RESEARCHER-BIBLIOGRAPHY: Erin Webb Ellis [artworks@san.rr.com] wrote T.Mason on 25Sep2001. Information Provided by his son, Philip Karl Webb.

Witnesses at wedding were Alice Chapman Hoff and Harry Herman Huff from West Virginia. May be relation somehow to Samuel Paul Webb.

Samuel Paul Webb grew up on a farm in an area called Gas Valley, which is located about 3 miles outside of Pughtown, Hancock County, West Virginia. He went to elementary school in Pughtown, and attended high school in New Cumberland, West Virginia. He often took his rifle to school to hunt for squirrels, etc. on his way home from school. He played football on his high school team. It is believed that he did graduate from high school.

Not long after high school graduation, he went to Cleveland, Ohio. It is believed that he worked in a steel mill. He may have also worked in a steel mill in Wheeling, West Virginia. Samuel moved to Detroit, Michigan after working in Cleveland.

Samuel was an active member of the Masonic Order for many years. He was a 33rd degree. He was active on the Reception Committee for over 30 years. He was also very involved in the Boy Scouts (Detroit Area Council). Most of his involvement was in the District and Council Leadership roles. He earned a Silver Beaver Award. He was also a District Commissioner for Several Years, and was also a member of The Order of the Arrow.

Samuel was a Manufacturers Representative for Fisher Govenertor (sp?) Corp. (Home office located in Marselltown, Iowa). They make control equipment valves for pipe lines.

Samuel's company was called Dubois Webb Company. They were located on First and Grand Blvd. in Detroit. They later moved to a location on Northwest Highway (near 7 1/2 Mile Road) also in Detroit.

During WWII the US Defense Department would not allow Samuel to be drafted as the work he was doing with the control equipment was necessary to the war effort. He was told to forget any notice he got from the draft board, etc. He was called as an expert witness to courts around the country on many occassions in cases involving pipe lines.

Some of Samuels hobbies included model railroading, woodworking, and stain glass.
