Adam Mott

Adam Mott (1596-1661), a native of Saffron Walden, Essex, England emigrated to America in 1635 arriving on the ship Defense on July 2nd with his second wife Sarah Lott whom he married in the parish of Horseheath in Cambridgeshire (just to the northeast of Saffron Walden) along with Adam Mott's family by his first wife Elizabeth Creel whom he married in Saffron Walden in 1616.
Jacob Mott was the first child of Adam and Sarah, born in Roxbury, Mass. in 1636. Jacob married Joanna Slocum (1642-1727), daughter of Giles and Joan Slocum about 1658 and they lived with Jacob's father Adam in Portsmouth, RI where Adam had settled by 1639.
Edward Thurston, who married Elizabeth Mott, was the co-executor of Adam Mott's will of 1661. Jacob and Joanna Mott had six children including Hannah Mott (1663-1737) who married Abraham Tucker (d.1725).
