The following two obituaries for Sarah P. (Easterly) Carson were found in the family bible:
Obituary # 1 published on 03/23/1891: Mrs. Sarah Carson, wife of Thomas Carson, residing at 2522 South Eleventh Street (St. Joseph, MO) was found dead in bed yesterday morning about 6 o'clock. Mrs. Carson has suffered with heart trouble for a number of years and has had frequent sinking spells. Saturday she was bright and cheerful and visited at the residences of her neighbors, seeming to be in good health. She retired at 11 P.M., feeling all right. Yesterday morning she had not arisen at 7 o'clock. The other members of the family awoke and when breakfast was prepared Mrs. Carson was called, but as no response came Mr. Carson went to her room and found that she was apparently dead. Physicians were immediately summoned, but it was of no avail, as she was dead before it was known that she was sick. Coroner Whittington was notified and on his arrival he decided that it was not necessary to hold an inquest, and on viewing the remains decided that she had died of heart disease - probably a clot of blood in the heart. Mrs. Carson was 65 years of age. She had lived forty years in the Platte purchase and for the last two years has resided with her husband in St. Joseph. She was the mother of nine children, six of whom together with the husband, survive her. Three of her children, T.J. Carson (deputy under Constable Womach), Isaac and Anna reside in this city. One daughter resides in Kansas City, another in Denver and the other in Andrew County. They have been notified and will be here to attend the funeral. The funeral will be announced later. Mrs. Carson was a noble woman, a kind mother, and a loving and dutiful wife. Her loss will be deeply deplored.!Obituary #2: Mrs. Sarah Carson, wife of Thomas Carson, residing at 2522 South Eleventh street, was found dead in bed yesterday morning about 6 o'clock.
