Marriage: John Foulks married Mary Slence, who was the daughter of William Slence, and they had seven children. Mary had a first marriage to Daniel Hassler, who died while moving his family from Gettysburg, Pa. to Columbiana Conuty, Ohio. Ref:"Old Landmarks of Canton and Stark County, Ohio by Danner, Vol II, 1904.

Military: John Foulks served in the War of 1812 entering service at the age of 15 years, serving with Captain Daniel Harbaugh's company of light dragoons (cavalry) dated Sept. 1812. Ref:"Old Landmarks of Canton and Stark County, Ohio" by Danner, p.362." A Souvenir History of the Old Village of New Lisbon, Ohio & The Old Town of Salem, Ohio", Ohio Genealogy Society 1987, p.10 & 11.

Occupation: Overland freighting bussiness as a teamster between the settlements of Eastern Ohio and the Allegheny Mountains. Later, he became a farmer and an innkeeper. Ref:'Old Landmarks of Canton and Stark County, Ohio" by Danner, p.1362.

Land: The Hamlet of Moultrie was platted by John Foulks in 1851 and was comprised of 24 lots each 60 by 120 feet. John Foulks was the proprietor of these lands. The population was 75. Ref:"History of Columbiana Co., Ohio"

Divorce: John Foulks & Elizabeth Fisher were married Apr.25, 1820 in Beaver Co.,Pa; In June 1825, she filed her petition to divorce him for extreme cruelty and adultery at New Lisbon, Col. Co.,Ohio. There was a child, Catherine Jane, age 3 years.(Columbiana County Court records 2, p.91) Ref: Columbiana County, Ohio Marriages, 1800-1870. Ref: Ohio Patriot, New Lisbon newspaper June 25 1825, p.1.
