According to Louis A Burgess, genealogict served as Ensign in the company of Capt. Jas. Woods in what was called the Virginia State Line. He was made Capt on the resignation of Capt. Woods in Aug 1781. (Deposition executed in Washington, MO on 12 26 1831.
