"of Nantes, France, was born about 1658, died May 23, 1736, 78 years old. He was a French physician and & Huguenot. After some years of exile, probably in England, he came to Virginia and settled in Essex County on the Rappahannock River about 1695. He was Justice of the Peace in Essex County from 1700 to 1720. His plantation "Port Micou" in Essex comprised about 2000 acres of land, and in addition he owned a good deal of land in King George and Spottsylvania Counties."
