They halted at Sharptown and scoured the adjacent country for provinder. Susannah Borden had a crock or ferkin of butter already to take to the store. When she saw the approach of the soldiers and knowing of their object she seated herself on the lid of the butter-pot and spreading her skirts about it, so remained until they had gathered up what lard and cured meats, etc. they could find and had left the premises. After the death of her husband, she and her boys continued the farming business. She made her will August 18, 1815. In it she named her children and three grandchildren - all her namesakes: Susannah Lloyd, Susannah Hance and Susannah Woolley. To these three she made a bequest of a half dozen silver spoons apiece. The Will was proved Oct. 20, 1823."
